With a deep-rooted passion for HR sparked in childhood, Deanne’s commitment to bridging the gap between large organizations and small businesses led to the creation of Tenfold HR Solutions in 2017.

A Seed of Inspiration

Deanne’s passion for HR was ignited early on, influenced by her exposure to her parents’ entrepreneurial journey. She saw first-hand how businesses like theirs could benefit from professional HR support, identifying a gap in the market. Early on, Deanne knew that she wanted to be an entrepreneur and embarked on a journey to create something meaningful. Over time, this desire would evolve into a mission to support other entrepreneurs.

Nurturing A Passion

To ensure she had the knowledge to create lasting impact in the HR field, Deanne completed her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta. Additionally, she first obtained her SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) designation. She also earned her CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) designation later on. Along with additional certifications in labour relations. Thus, her education became the foundation of the HR policy development and services she would later offer at Tenfold HR Solutions.

The Crucial Experience

After completing her studies, Deanne gained invaluable experience at Matrikon Inc. Matrikon provides advanced industrial data connectivity and analytics solutions, helping businesses optimize operations and improve decision-making across sectors like manufacturing, oil and gas, and utilities. There, she worked briefly in recruiting before moving into labour relations and other areas of HR.
From Matrikon, Deanne moved on to larger organizations like Finning and ATCO, where she specialized in labour relations and cross-border operations. Her time at ATCO was formative, but she missed the close-knit, hands-on work environment of smaller businesses. It fueled her passion for supporting smaller companies.

Identifying The Needs

During her corporate career, Deanne identified a significant gap—smaller businesses struggled with HR challenges but couldn’t justify the cost of a full-time HR team. Moreover, her heart remained focused on supporting smaller businesses that couldn’t afford full-time HR departments. This insight inspired her to create Tenfold HR Solutions in 2017, with the goal of bridging the gap between the resources available to large organizations and the needs of smaller businesses. With a model that provides customized HR services on a part-time, fractional HR basis. This model allows small businesses to access expert HR support affordably.
Thus, Tenfold HR Solutions was created.

Then, Tenfold was born...

In February 2017, Deanne launched Tenfold HR Solutions, offering high-quality HR consulting in Alberta. Her vision was clear—empower small to medium-sized businesses with HR outsourcing that allowed them to grow and thrive.
Over the years, our ability to identify who will do well in a fast-paced, agile consultancy environment has been key to shaping Tenfold’s growth. Therefore, Tenfold’s services in Alberta provided businesses with the HR resources they needed without the cost of a full department.

Assembling the Team

Recognizing that success is a team effort, Deanne carefully selected a group of HR professionals to help deliver Tenfold’s mission. These HR professionals brought unique perspectives to the table, working as part of an integrated in-house HR team. Further solidifying Tenfold’s reputation as a leading HR outsourcing firm in Alberta.

Innovative Business Model

Tenfold HR Solutions disrupted traditional HR consultancy models by providing hourly HR support. Additionally, Tenfold acts as an in-house department for each client.
This flexible approach made expert HR solutions in Alberta accessible to businesses of all sizes. In the end, this contributed to the workplace culture of our clients as well as improving their employee retention.

Early Adoption of Technology

Tenfold has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to embracing new technology. Initially, we operated using GSuite but later migrated to Microsoft. We were even among the early adopters, participating as beta testers for Microsoft Teams before it became a mainstream tool.
Additionally, we implemented HRIS solutions early on, enhancing our operational capabilities. This flexibility has allowed us to consistently deliver exceptional services. Such as compliance management across Alberta and HR risk management, even during challenging times.

Growing Client Base

Thanks to word-of-mouth referrals and high client satisfaction, Tenfold quickly grew its clientele. Many satisfied clients recognized that their return on investment was tenfold. Businesses sought Tenfold’s expertise in areas such as recruitment services in Edmonton, employee benefits management, and diversity and inclusion programs. Additionally, they are all customized to each business’s unique needs.

Our Hybrid Work Arrangement

At Tenfold HR, we are fortunate that the nature of our work allows us to embrace flexibility in how we operate. Tenfold HR’s hybrid work arrangement allows employees the flexibility to work from home, in our bright office, or at client locations. This approach not only enhances employee engagement but also ensures clients receive customized HR support when and where they need it.

Rapid Internal Growth

From 2020 to 2022, Tenfold HR Solutions expanded rapidly, growing from a team of 5 to over 20 employees. Tenfold initially operated out of the Work Nicer space, a collaborative working environment that allowed the team to grow and interact with other businesses. As Tenfold continued to expand, we moved into our own office in the West End of Edmonton in April 2022.
In the end, our growth has been fueled by a commitment to providing flexible, customized HR solutions and fostering a positive workplace culture. This ultimately empowers businesses to thrive as well as achieve long-term success.

Present Day

Today, Tenfold HR Solutions stands as a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and purpose. Deanne’s vision, created out of her parents’ challenges, has transformed into a thriving consultancy offering HR strategy development in Calgary, organizational development, and much more.
